CUEA Gaba Lecturers Inspire Graduates at Madonna’s 13th Graduation Ceremony

Two CUEA Gaba Campus lecturers were guests at Madonna Diploma Teachers’ College and Madonna Technical and Vocational College 13th graduation ceremony in Eldoret on Friday, 25 September 2026.

The two, Dr. Gilbert Arap Bor, Lecturer of Marketing in the School of Business and Economics, and Dr. Becky Omollo, Lecturer of Kiswahili in the School of Arts and Social Sciences, represented the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), Gaba Campus, at the occassion.

The ceremony, brought together Madonna Diploma Teachers’ College and Madonna Technical and Vocational College for the Graduation. The Graduation was preceded by Holy Mass celebrated by Very Rev. Fr. David Ruto, Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret and Parish Priest of St. George’s Parish, Kapseret. He was assisted by the Diocese’s Director of Education, Rev. Fr. Mathew Too, and the local parish priest, Fr. Joram.

The event was attended by members of the College Board of Management and staff, representatives of the Uasin Gishu County Government, and national government education officials, including the Kapseret Sub-County Director of Education. Parents, guardians and invited guests also joined the celebrations.

Dr. Bor served as Guest of Honour and commencement speaker, while Dr. Omollo delivered the keynote address. Held under the theme “Guiding Stars and Healing Hands,” the ceremony celebrated 365 graduands, comprising 212 teacher trainees and 153 Health Services Support Provider graduands.

In his address, Dr. Bor urged the graduates to embrace lifelong learning, integrity, enterprise and compassionate service. He challenged graduating teachers to look beyond examination results and recognise their responsibility to nurture talent, build confidence and guide young lives. He encouraged health-support graduates to uphold dignity, patience and kindness when caring for vulnerable people.

“Your certificate tells society what you have studied. Your character will tell society who you are,” he said.

Dr. Bor also challenged graduates to become problem-solvers who could create opportunities alongside seeking employment. He encouraged the responsible use of artificial intelligence and digital technology, emphasising that professional judgement and human compassion remained essential.

Dr. Omollo encouraged graduates to regard their diplomas as a foundation for further academic achievement. She highlighted opportunities to explore bachelor’s studies at CUEA Gaba Campus and subsequently pursue Master’s and Doctoral qualifications through CUEA, subject to the admission requirements at each level.

She also proposed exploring a possible partnership between the Madonna colleges and CUEA to support academic guidance, professional development and progression to university education. Such collaboration would require consultation and agreement between the institutions.

Dr. Bor congratulated the Immaculate Heart Sisters, the colleges’ leadership and staff, and acknowledged the sacrifices of parents and guardians. His closing message called on graduates to put their education into service: “Go forth and teach. Go forth and heal. Go forth and serve. Go forth and create.”
