Youth Take Centre Stage at Second Day of the 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly

The second day of the 21st AMECEA Plenary Assembly commenced on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, with young people from across the Eastern African region taking centre stage in discussions on the future of the Church.

The morning session opened with the presentation of a youth report, in which young delegates called for greater inclusion and active participation in the life and mission of the Church. They urged Church leaders to create more opportunities for young people to contribute to decision-making processes and pastoral initiatives at all levels.

The report was followed by a panel discussion featuring young representatives from across the AMECEA region. The session was moderated by Adv. Linus Kaikai, Group Editorial Director of Royal Media Services, and was broadcast live on Citizen TV, providing a wider audience with an opportunity to engage with the discussions.

During the panel, the young participants spoke candidly about the challenges they face within their families, communities, and the Church. They appealed to parents and Church leaders to offer greater guidance, mentorship, and support while creating spaces where young people can express their views and contribute meaningfully to the Church''s mission.

The panelists also emphasized the importance of involving young people in leadership and decision-making structures, noting that meaningful participation would strengthen the Church''s engagement with the region''s largest demographic.

The discussions underscored the central theme of the plenary, highlighting the Church''s commitment to listening to young people and fostering a more inclusive and synodal approach to pastoral ministry across Eastern Africa.
