Dr. Caroline Wahiga Kanyiri holds a PhD in Mathematics (Computational Option) from the Pan African University Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI), 2016-2019, with a thesis on mathematical modelling of influenza pneumonia co-infection with drug resistance and optimal control. She also holds an MSc in Applied Mathematics and a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science (First Class Honours), both from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. She has been a Lecturer at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa since 2022, teaching and supervising Differential Equations, Fluid Mechanics, Advanced Calculus, Numerical Methods and Mathematical Modelling. Prior to CUEA she lectured at Gretsa University (2019-2021) and was a Tutorial Fellow at Embu College (2015). She is supervising several ongoing postgraduate theses at CUEA on mathematical modelling of disease dynamics. Her research interests include mathematical modelling of natural phenomena.

Research interests: Mathematical Modeling of Infectious Diseases; Influenza A Dynamics; Drug Resistance Emergence; Flow Parameters Analysis; Newtonian Fluid Dynamics; Computational Mathematics; Dr. Carolyne Kanyiri is a dedicated mathematician whose research focuses on the mathematical modeling of infectious diseases, particularly influenza A dynamics and the emergence of drug resistance. Her work has provided critical insights into how drug resistance develops in influenza populations and has implications for public health strategies.; Her groundbreaking research on modeling influenza dynamics with drug resistance aspects has been published in high-impact journals including Computational and Mathematical Methods in Medicine. This work helps healthcare professionals and policy makers understand the complex dynamics of viral evolution and resistance patterns.; Beyond infectious disease modeling, Dr. Kanyiri has contributed to the field of fluid mechanics through her analysis of Newtonian fluid flow through cylindrical collapsible tubes. Her interdisciplinary approach combines mathematical rigor with practical applications in both medicine and engineering.
