Our Vice-Chancellor, Very Rev. Prof. Stephen Mbugua attended the send-off of the late Raphael Ndingi Mwana a'Nzeki, Archbishop Emeritus of Nairobi Archdiocese on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

He also shared a condolence message with the current Archbishop of Nairobi, John Cardinal Njue and the family of Ndingi.

In his message of condolence, the VC joined others in celebrating Ndingi’s long life which epitomized Godly integrity, true justice, utmost humility and enduring service not only to the ministry of God but also to the dignity of humanity.

“We shall forever remember the late as a true man of God who prayed fervently, stood up for the truth and spoke against injustice even when it was not convenient becoming a force of light in our days and an example of authentic leadership,” Prof. Mbugua added.

The late Raphael Ndingi Mwana a'Nzeki was buried in a crypt at the Holy Family minor basilica, Nairobi.

Before serving Nairobi as Archbishop, he was a long serving Bishop of Nakuru Diocese, west of Nairobi for 24 years where he stood against injustices meted on some of the people in his Diocese.

It is in Nakuru Diocese that he met Rev. Prof. Stephen Mbugua who he ordained to the priesthood and mentored.

The late Ndingi was born in Mwala Division of Machakos District on Christmas Day, 25th December, 1951. He peacefully returned to his maker on 30th March, 2020.
