RE: Suspension of On-Site Learning and Non-Critical Operations at the University with Immediate Effect
Greetings to you all.
Following the presidential address, directive and confirmation of three Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Kenya, I hereby inform you that the University Management and Senate has resolved to suspend all on-site learning and non-critical operations at the Langata and Gaba Campuses with immediate effect. The suspension will remain until further directive from the Government.
In view of the above, we wish to inform our stakeholders that only critical services at the University will remain operational supported by minimum staff. With approximately four weeks of teaching remaining before the examinations period and the need to ensure continuity in learning as per the University calendar, the University is working to ensure that lecturers upload class notes and assignments to students via the online platform. We therefore request the lecturers and students to collaborate and ensure the success of this initiative.Further, we appeal to all staff and students in our Lang’ata and Gaba Campuses to be vigilant and take precautionary measures as prescribed by Kenya’s Ministry of Health and World Health Organization.
We urge all our International Students and Staff to keep their respective families and guardians updated on their safety and health status, intercountry travel is discouraged but, if you must travel please confirm on the travel and entrance requirements back into your country. The Dean of Students, Security and HR Offices will be at hand to assist where they can.
The University is monitoring the situation as we await further communication from the Government and we shall do what we can to ensure that the CUEA community is safe and healthy.
Thank you and may God be with us all as we work on containing the spread of COVID-19.
Yours in the service of God’s family,
Very Rev. Prof. Stephen Mbugua NGARI
