The University’s Faculty of Theology held its 16th Interdisciplinary Theological Session from 26th to 28th February 2014, under the theme “Quest for an African Political Theology.” Rt. Rev. Maurice Muhatia Makumba, Bishop Nakuru Diocese in Kenya, was the guest of honour.

On 22nd and 23rd February 2014, more than twenty universities, colleges and secondary schools in Kenya took part in The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Annual Sports Festival at the Lang’ata campus. Strathmore University emerged as the overall winner; CUEA secured second position while Egerton University took third position. The various sports activities that took place include: karate, rugby, basket ball, volleyball, lawn tennis, soccer and hockey.
On the 19th of February 2014 CUEA students from the Centre of Social Justice and Ethics (CSJE), Faculty of Education, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Commerce and Faculty of Law, took part in an Inter-faculty quiz competition. The theme of the competition was “battle of intellectuals.”
Visitors from Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers paid a courtesy call to the University’s Vice Chancellor, Monsignor Dr. Pius Rutechura on 21st February 2014. The visitors included Bishop Phillip Francis Straling, Bishop Emeritus of Reno, Nevada. During the visit, the Vice Chancellor gave a brief history of the University, and the various services and programmes on offer.
Pope Francis has called an Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the theme “The Pastoral Challenges of the family in the context of Evangelization.”
Thursday 13th February 2014, marked the launch of The Year of the Family at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). The Chancellor, Most Rev. Tarcisius Ziyaye, presided over the Eucharistic Celebration. The climax was the unveiling of The Year of The Family banner by the Chancellor and the University Council members.
