On Thursday, June 13, we celebrated the CUEA Family Day during Holy Mass under the theme, “Trinitarian Community: A Community of Believers of One Heart and One Mind”. The Principal Celebrant of the Holy Eucharistic Celebration was His Eminence John Cardinal Njue.
The University is dedicated to the Holy Trinity with a Chapel and residence by the same name. In the Mass, the Cardinal received one new convert and confirmed 9 candidates who included the new convert.
During his homily, John Cardinal Njue appreciated the confirmation candidates for taking the great step of faith and for the received convert for joining the Catholic Church and further encouraged them to focus on their dignity and remain in God through prayers and by partaking the sacraments.
The Cardinal also urged members of the CUEA community to remain united with a common purpose for the success of the institution and without looking at where one came from. “We have come from far, we are still far and we are going far”, he reminded the congregation.
“Each person has to play his/her rightful role to make CUEA improve further. Focus on the truth in education as truth will set you free and let’s improve not for ourselves but for the future too”, said Cardinal as he gave the final blessings.
Rev. Prof. Peter Gichure, stepping in for the VC appreciated Cardinal Njue for his love for education and welcomed the new converts and confirmed candidates to the Catholic Church.
Sr. Dr. Noelina Nakato who recently was recognized as a World Champion and Father of Modern Ecumenism Studies was awarded a Trophy and Certificate by the Cardinal at the end of the Mass.
After the mass there was cake-cutting ceremony with the Cardinal and the new converts.
Cardinal John Njue is the Pro-Chancellor of the University and is also a member of its board of Trustees. Besides that, the University’s main campus is situated at Langata, which is under the Archdiocese of Nairobi led by Cardinal Njue.
The Feast of the Holy Trinity will be marked on Sunday, June 16.
