Seminar : Electoral Law and Practice
Date: 2nd, 3rd and 4th October 2017
Venue: LRC Catholic University. Langata South Road Karen
About this Seminar:
Election Petitions have a unique legal regime and present unique challenges for legal practitioners and other stakeholders in the electoral process. A mastery of the dos and don’ts is non-negotiable for legal practitioners in this potentially lucrative practice area and helpful for the stakeholders in the electoral process. This seminar offers a unique opportunity for delegates to interact with those who were directly and indirectly involved the petition as parties or their agents, counsel, background technical support teams, observers, as well as managers of the election itself in a politically neutral environment specifically designed to facilitate frank and sober sharing of experiences within the confines of ethical obligations.
Using the NASA Presidential Election Petition (2017) as a case study, this seminar explores the A to Z of a typical election petition. The grounds upon which an election petition may be filed and allowed are explored and the strategic issues to bear in mind considered.
