Undergraduate Programmes

  •  Bachelor of Science in any of the following areas:

    • Mathematics (Full time)

    • Computer Science (Full time & Evening)

    • Biology (Full time)

    • Chemistry (Full time)
    • Physics (Full time)                    

Masters PROGRAMMES:

  • Master of Science in Mathematics (Full time & Evening) with specialization in any of the following areas:
  • Pure Mathematics
  • Applied Mathematics
  • Statistics

Entry Requirements

 

Undergraduate.

Admissions into the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Programme.

 4 year Programme

  •  A minimum of C+ mean grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent  with at least a C plain in Mathematics OR a principal pass in Mathematics or Physics in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education or its equivalent.

  •  Holders of a two year diploma in a relevant area from a recognized institution with at least a mean grade of C (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent
     

 3 year Programme

  •   At least two principal passes, one of which must be in either Mathematics or Physics, in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education or GCE A-level or their equivalent.

  •  2 – year Diploma in a relevant area from a recognized institution.

 2 year Programme 

  •  A Higher National Diploma in Computer Science examined by the Kenya National Examination Council or its equivalent.

 NB: Internal Diplomas given by government institutions other than National Polytechnics will be required to be equated by the  Kenya National Examination Council  to be recognized.

  • Holders of IMIS ordinary diploma with a minimum of C (plain) mean grade and a C plain in Mathematics can be admitted in the 4-year programme.

  •  Holders of IMIS Higher Diploma can be admitted in the 3-year programme.

 Admissions into the Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics

 4–year Programme

  •  A minimum of C+ mean grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent with at least a C plain in the chosen subject and at least a C- (minus) in Mathematics for those not taking Mathematics

  • A principal pass in the chosen subject in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education or GCE A-level or their equivalent

  • One year diploma from a recognized institution with at least a credit pass in the subject of choice and at least a mean grade of C (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent

 3 – year Programme

  • At least two principal passes, one of which must be in the subject of choice, in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education or GCE A-level or their equivalent.

  • Advanced diploma in a related area with at least a mean grade of C (plain) and at least of a C plain in the subject of choice in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent.

 2 – Year Programme

  • A Higher National Diploma in a relevant area examined by the Kenya National Examination Council or its equivalent.


MASTER OF SCIENCE PROGRAMMES.

  • A Bachelors Degree in a relevant area with at least an Upper Second Class Honours from a recognized university.
  • A Bachelors Degree from a recognized University with a minimum of Lower Second Class Honours and at least 2 years work experience in a relevant area OR
  • Any other qualification accepted by the University Senate as equivalent to any of the above.

Short Term Courses

  • Certificate in Mathematics / Bridging Course in Mathematics (evening)

NB: Offered as follows:

September - December

January - April
May - July

Entry Requirements:

  • Applicants who do not satisfy CUEA's departmental entry requirements in Mathematics but have a minimum mean grade of C+ OR candidates who have a minimum mean grade of C (plain) in KCSE and wish to improve Mathematics but do not intend to join CUEA.
