Entry Requirements

Undergraduate

4 Year Programme

•       A minimum of C+ mean grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or a Principal pass in the A-Levels in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education or GCE A-Level or the equivalent with a C plain in the arts subject chosen at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, or the equivalent.

•       P1 Certificate holders with a C plain mean grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education or the equivalent (School Focused Only)

3 Year Programme

•       P1 Certificate holders with a C plain mean grade in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (Full time)

•       Diploma in Education (for school focused students) or 2 principal passes in the Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education or its equivalent.

 2 Year Programme

•      A Diploma in Education

 NB: 

• Untrained teachers with C+ who are currently teaching will be admitted into the school-focused programme.

• Transfer cases: Applicants must fulfil the minimum entry requirement to university in the respective countries. If the applicants did the Kenyan National Examinations, they must fulfil minimum entry requirements for admission at CUEA.

• Applicants with A-Level certificates and did KCSE MUST have at least a mean score of C plain.

PGDE PROGRAMME

• A Bachelor Degree from a recognized university

MASTER OF EDUCATION PROGRAMME

• A Bachelor of Education Degree with a minimum of an Upper Second Class Honours from a recognized university.
• In exceptional cases, a Bachelor of Education Degree with a Lower Second Class Honours from a recognized university with at least 5 years teaching experience.
• Any other qualification accepted by the university senate as equivalent to any of the above.

Ph.D PROGRAMMES

• A Master of Education Degree from a recognized university.
