Visitors from Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers paid a courtesy call to the University’s Vice Chancellor, Monsignor Dr. Pius Rutechura on 21st February 2014. The visitors included Bishop Phillip Francis Straling, Bishop Emeritus of Reno, Nevada. During the visit, the Vice Chancellor gave a brief history of the University, and the various services and programmes on offer.
On the 19th of February 2014 CUEA students from the Centre of Social Justice and Ethics (CSJE), Faculty of Education, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Commerce and Faculty of Law, took part in an Inter-faculty quiz competition. The theme of the competition was “battle of intellectuals.”
Pope Francis has called an Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the theme “The Pastoral Challenges of the family in the context of Evangelization.”
Thursday 13th February 2014, marked the launch of The Year of the Family at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). The Chancellor, Most Rev. Tarcisius Ziyaye, presided over the Eucharistic Celebration. The climax was the unveiling of The Year of The Family banner by the Chancellor and the University Council members.
The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) Annual awards 2013/2014 took place on 13th February 2014, at the University cafeteria grounds. The awards seek to recognize commitment, success and active participation from outstanding students and student leaders, clubs and faculties in the University. Nescafe, Accounting Students Association (ASA) and Rafiki Microfinance sponsored the event.
The Vice Chancellor Msgr. Dr. Pius Rutechura held a luncheon to congratulate Mr. CUEA 2013/2014, Brian Obiero, third year Bachelor of Commerce student and Miss. CUEA 2013/2014, Doreen Gatwiri Riungu, fourth year Bachelor of Law student, on 7th February 2014, at Stedmark Garden, Karen. The Vice Chancellor thanked them for showcasing their talents in the annual beauty pageant.
The Faculty of Education held a one day workshop on Publishing Your Research on 7th February 2014, at The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). Professor Sagini Keengwe, Associate Professor, Department of Teaching and Learning at University of North Dakota and Prof Gary Schnellert, a Full Professor of Educational Leadership in charge of Doctoral Cohorts at the University of North Dakota, USA, were the key facilitators at the workshop.
