CERTIFICATE COURSE IN APPLIED COMPUTER SCIENCE

PREAMBLE: The IBM Research Lab has set up their only lab in Africa at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, Langata Campus. The focus of their research is application of Big Data to Africa’s grand challenges in the areas of Energy, Health, Water, Education and Genomics. In order to effectively engage in collaborative research in these areas with Universities in Kenya, IBM Research Africa will offer a one-semester course in Applied Computer Science starting February 2015.

Archbishop-elect Mombasa launches “Year of the Priest” book

Archbishop-elect Mombasa, Most Rev. Martin Kivuva presided over the launch of the book on “Year of the Priest, faithfulness of Christ, faithfulness of the Priest, 150 years of St. John Marie Vianney” edited by Rev. Prof. Lukwata.

Most Rev. Martin Kivuva thanked the CUEA Faculty of Theology for the reflection on the beauty and demands of ‘the Priestly vocation today’, noting that, “writing about priesthood is a noble task”.

Archbishop launches “Paths of Development” book

Archbishop Zacchaeus Okoth launched the book “Paths of Development” on January 15, 2015 here at the University.

The Archbishop of Kisumu and Chairman of Justice and Peace Commission, Kenya Conference of Catholic bishops (KCCB) was the chief guest at the event.

The Archbishop concelebrated the Thursday community Mass with Archbishop-elect of Mombasa, Most Rev. Martin Kivuva Musonde, Rev. Prof. Lukwata and Rev. Dr. Charles Kyallo the University Chaplain before the launch.

CUEA Chancellor Appointed Cardinal

Chancellorphoto2The CUEA Chancellor, Most Rev Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel, C.M., Archbishop of Addis Ababa; Ethiopia has been appointed Cardinal.

Information posted online by www.news.va, quoting Vatican radio stated that on Sunday 04 January 2015 at the Angelus, Pope Francis announced the names of fifteen Archbishops and Bishops whom he will raise to the dignity of the Cardinalate on February 14, 2015; among them is Most Rev Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel, C.M., Archbishop of Addis Ababa; Ethiopia and AMECEA Chairman.

Student Launches First Book

Ferzana Cocker, a Bachelor of Education (English and English Literature) graduate and MA student of CUEA, launched her first book entitled 'Wild Hearts of The Savannah' at the Sir Ali Muslim Club, Park road - Ngara on Sunday December 7, 2014.

The Novel is a romantic adventure fiction exploring relationships, social and cultural gatherings and affairs of young hearts.
